EU Ecolabel

The EU Ecolabel serves as a cross-border environmental quality seal that is used as a standardised label for environmentally friendly products and services in the common European market. It is the official eco-label recognised by all EU countries (as well as Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland) and sets particularly high standards for the environment and credibility. It was launched by the European Commission in 1992. The guidelines for awarding the Ecolabel are drawn up in cooperation with the EU member states.
The EU Ecolabel helps consumers, retailers and companies to make truly sustainable choices.

Objectives:

Reducing the negative impact of production and consumption on the environment, public health and the climate Creating the possibility for consumers to recognise environmentally friendly products

The EU Ecolabel takes into account the entire life cycle of a product - from the extraction of raw materials to the disposal of the product.

The criteria vary greatly depending on the product group. The product groups analysed are as follows:

Devices
Cleaning and hygiene
Paper products
Clothing
House and garden
Lubricant
